Sunday, September 24, 2006, 6:00 pm Clay Center womanSong Chorale, Appalachian Children’s Chorus, Civic Chorus, WV Symphony Orchestra, Kanawha Kordsmen, Charleston Civic Chorus, Charleston Ballet, River City Youth Ballet, Charleston Light Opera Guild, and Children’s Theater of Charleston present a 3 hour marathon benefit concert featuring a smorgasbord of the Charleston Arts Scene. Proceeds will benefit a local non-profit and tickets are $10 each at Clay Center box office.

Friday, December 1, 2006, 10:00 am and 7:00 pm at The Clay Center  ChildSong, DanceSong, and the River City Youth Ballet perform WILD WONDERFUL WORLD, featuring beloved folk songs from around the globe; Spain, Ghana, China, Japan, England, Ireland, just to name a few.

Saturday, December 2, 2006, 7:00 pm Christ Church Untied Methodist, admission free with a canned good for the needy. CHILD OF GRACE CHRISTMAS CONCERT showcasing the angelic voices of womanSong, childSong, and danceSong performing selections from our new Christmas CD in the beautiful candlelit Centrum of the church; Gustav Holst’s Ave Maria, Hildegard of Bingen’s 12th century antiphon and canticle for women, O Fronden Virga, Verdi Laudi alla Vergine Maria, the ethereal Canticle of Mary for choir, hand bells, and oboe. We will also perform our favorite arrangements of Christmas carols including J David Moore’s I Wonder as I Wander with guitar, Carol of the Bells, Silent Night, Deck the Hall, Here We Come a Wassailing.

The Wizard of Oz April 28, Clay Center for the Arts and Sciences 10:00 am school performances and 7:00 pm public performance, a collaboration of The WV Youth Symphony, River City Youth Ballet, WomanSong Chorale, ChildSong, and DanceSong will feature the traditional story performed with elements of ballet and choral singing. Tickets for 7:00 performance are $22, $17, and $11 and are available by calling the Clay Center box office 561-3570

WomanSong's Spring Concert "womanSong Eclectic" a fundraiser for The Religious Coalition for Community Renewal will feature a women's "sing in" for any woman who would like to sing a few songs with womansong. Contact us by e-mailing through this website. Music performed will represent masterpieces for women's voices by Hildegaard, Brahms, Schubert, Kodaly, Puccini, Caccini, as well as several fresh arrangements of beloved folks songs (Danny Boy, Scarborough Faire) and American standards (I've Got Rhythm, Somewhere Over the Rainbow). 2004 - 2005 SEASON

Saturday, October 2, 2004 womanSong will don period costumes to perform Renaissance motets and madrigals for the annual Tamarack Renaissance Faire. Motets to be performed by the group include: Memento Salutis Auctor by William Byrd and Ave Maria by Claudio Monteverdi. Madrigals such as Thomas Morley’s Though Philomela lost her Love will regale the crowd as womanSong madrigal singers roam the grounds of Tamarack among the court jesters and medieval royalty!

Wednesday, October 6, 2004 womanSong will perform onstage at The Clay Center for the annual Symphony Style Show presented by The West Virginia Symphony League. Surprises include a whimsical musical arrangement of the famous poem, Warning, When I grow Old I will Wear Purple!

Friday, October 8, 2004 7:00 pm womanSong will be the performing choir for the worship service that will feature the author of The Disciple Bible Study Series.
This worship service will be the first event in a weekend of festivities that will celebrate the 200th birthday of Christ Church United Methodist Church.  WomanSong will be singing perennial favorites such as the Thompson Alleluia.

Monday, November 8, 2004 womanSong will sing spirituals, Renaissance and some holiday favorites for the Shepherd Center Interdenominational Luncheon at First Presbyterian Church in Charleston.

Saturday, December 4, 2004 7:30 pm womanSong joins the Appalachian Children’s Chorus for a glorious holiday choral extravaganza at The Clay Center. Some of the featured works performed by womanSong include: A Christmas Alleluia for double chorus. This is a rousing and intricate setting of two spirituals. The group will also perform many perennial holiday favorites, Deck the Hall and Verdi’s Laudi Alla Virgine Maria. Tickets will be on sale at The Clay Center $10, $15, and $20 seats available.

Friday, December 10, 2004 9:30 pm womanSong returns to the gorgeous grand foyer of The Greenbrier Hotel in White Sulphur Springs for a holiday concert.  Music will include well-loved English Christmas carols as well as an audience carol-along!

Friday, December 31, 2004 womanSong will “pull out the stops” for a party atmosphere at Christ Church United Methodist at Charleston’s annual GOOD NIGHT NEW YEARS EVE CELEBRATION. Featured music will be from our Broadway, blues, and pop repertoire and will geared to bring cheer to our audience!

Sunday, January 16, Governor's Inaugural Interfaith Service at The Municipal Auditorium.   womanSong will be one of the 3 invited groups to perform ecumenical music for this statewide event.

Saturday, March 12, 7:30 pm womanSong will entertain Kanawha County physicians and their spouses as they celebrate the annual Doctor's Day at Berry Hills Country Club. Songs to be performed will include samplings from our classical, folk, and Broadway repertoire.


Friday, April 15, 2005 8:00 pm Eve's Song... featuring music that defines the unique life experiences of women will be our special spring concert at The Clay Center. Audience members will get a visual and musical treat as womanSong and guest artists perform special music, poetry, and dance to celebrate women! Songs include a rousing rendition of Will the Circle be Unbroken as well as musical settings of poems of Emily Dickinson, love songs, lullabies, and ballads. Come celebrate with us and bring your friends!


 

2003 - 2004 SEASON

WomanSong will perform for the annual TAMARACK RENAISSANCE FAIRE on Sunday, October 5, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. on the Tamarack stage followed by providing “roving” madrigals on the Tamarack grounds. Travel back to a time of wandering minstrels and court jesters, monks and monasteries, as the group, dressed in madrigal costumes performs sacred and secular songs of the medieval era. Some of the special Renaissance motets to be performed by the group include: Hodie Christus natus es by Palestrina, O Magnum Mysterium by Morales, Ave Maria by Monteverdi, and Memento Salutis Auctor by Byrd. Madrigal selections include several English pieces by Thomas Morley and Thomas Weelkes. Admission is free!

WomanSong will perform for the STATE INTERFAITH CONFERENCE sponsored by The Coalition Against Domestic Violence on Monday, November 3, 10:00 a.m. at The Days Inn of Charleston, WV.

WomanSong’s FATHER CHRISTMAS CONCERT will take place on Sunday afternoon, December 7, at 3:00 pm at the Charleston Baptist Temple (Quarrier and Morris Streets). The concert will feature carols with the flavor of a Charles Dicken’s Christmas. Guest artists will include: The Appalachian Children’s Chorus Chamber Choir, and The Kanawha Kordsmen performing Christmas classics including: Deck the Hall, Carol of the Bells, In the Bleak Midwinter, The Holly and The Ivy, Here we come a Wassailing, Patapan, and Silent Night. Special guest artist, Joe Romagnoli will appear as Father Christmas and will perform perennial favorites such as O Holy Night. Admission is free, but we ask the audience members to bring non-perishable food items to help replenish the Community Food Pantry.

WomanSong will perform at THE GREENBRIER RESORT in White Sulphur Springs, WV on Saturday, December 13, 2003 at 4:30 “tea time” and again at 9:30 p.m. in the Grand Foyer. The group will showcase songs from the annual holiday concert FATHER CHRISTMAS.  Admission is free!

WomanSong ‘s Cabaret will perform for Charleston’s annual GOOD NIGHT CELEBRATION, NEW YEAR’S EVE, Wednesday, December 31, at 7:00 and 9:00 p.m. in the Centrum of Christ Church United Methodist in downtown Charleston. Songs to be featured include popular Broadway, Show tunes, and folk music. Admission is free!

WomanSong’s annual spring concert SONGS OF AMERICA CONCERT will be held on April 30, 2004, 8:00 pm at The Clay Center for the Arts and Sciences in downtown Charleston. Guest artists include gospel favorite, Ethel Caffie-Austin, Julie Adams and The Blues du Jour Band, and The Charleston Ballet. This concert will feature many styles of American music ranging from 40’s swing, blues, folk, and spirituals. WomanSong Chorale will perform some of the most beloved songs in American repertoire: selections from Bernstein’s West Side Story, I Got Rhythm, Cheek to Cheek, Bridge Over Troubled Water, Can’t Help Lovin That Man, Shenandoah, Simple Gifts. We’ll even have a set of the popular songs of Stephen Foster. Sunday, August 4, 2002 The season begins with a trip to the newly created Snowshoe Institute. womanSong will sing for a Sunday morning ecumenical service as part of the 1st annual Snowshoe Institute.

Wednesday, September 11, 2002 womanSong and the Appalachian Children’s chorus join a moving memorial service at the Charleston Baptist Temple in remembrance of those who died September 11, 2001.

Monday, September 23, 2002 womanSong, performing hauntingly beautiful works, will be featured in HOLOCAUST REMEMBERED, Witness and Legacy, presented by the West Virginia Department of Culture and History in conjunction with the Federated Jewish Charities of Charleston and Kanawha County Schools.

Friday, December 6, 2002 womanSong hosts its  annual Christmas concert A CANDLELIGHT CHRISTMAS to be held at 7:30 p.m. at Christ Church Methodist. The sanctuary will be aglow in candlelight as womanSong performs Christmas classics and favorites from by gone years, followed by an audience carol sing and reception.

Friday, December 13, 2002 womanSong will again be a guest for the annual CHRISTMAS at the GREENBRIER Series. The 9:30 p.m. performance will feature songs from past holiday performances, songs from A CANDLELIGHT CHRISTMAS as well as old favorites.

Friday, January 24, 2003 womanSong will perform at the prestigious West Virginia Chapter of the American Choral Director’s Association annual meeting to be held at the Charleston Baptist Temple. By invitation only, womanSong is honored to be among the guest artists for the 2003 event.

February 14, 2003 A Ronald McDonald Charities of Southern WV Fundraiser. Plan to fall in love as womanSong and featured guest artists, Melea Brotherton, Joe Romagnoli, John Marshall, Bill Rainey and Mary Parsons Dubois capture your hearts and captivate your souls with ROMANCE ‘N BROADWAY. University of Charleston, Geary Auditorium, 8:00 p.m. Reception following. Tickets: $10/ advance purchase, $15 at the door. Children under 14 free.

Sunday, February 23, 2003 womanSong joins the West Virginia Symphony for a gala performance held in the Maier Foundation Concert Hall featuring appearances by the West Virginia Symphony under the direction of Maestro Grant Cooper, readings from area clergy, and guest artist tenor, Daniel Rodriguez, who gained famed as New York’s singing policeman after the September 11 attacks. 1:00 P.M. at the Clay Center.  Tickets may be purchased at the WV Symphony.

May 9, 2003, 12:00-1:00 womanSong will perform live on WV Public radio selections from Brahms, Schubert, Grieg, Kodaly and others.

May 16, 7:30 pm at Charleston Baptist Temple womanSong will perform special orchestral music arranged for women's voices in a spring concert which will also feature pianist, Vicky Cavendish and violinist Amy Glick. The Chamber Choir of The Appalachian Children's Chorus will perform with womanSong. Performance is free. We ask the audience members to bring non-perishable food to be donated to the community food pantry.
